Baseball Game Preview: Chaffey Tigers vs. Montclair Cavaliers

The Chaffey Tigers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Montclair Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Friday, Chaffey didn't have quite enough to beat Don Lugo and fell 5-4.

Emilio Alcala was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Meanwhile, Montclair fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Whittier on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-3. The Cavaliers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Montclair also got a good showing from Isaac Merancio, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

Chaffey has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. Montclair's loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
