Basketball Recap: Sidwell Friends Takes Down Nationally-Ranked Georgetown Prep

Sidwell Friends and Georgetown Prep (ranked 13th and 89th in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest on Tuesday. The Sidwell Friends Quakers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Georgetown Prep Little Hoyas 44-42. The Quakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Little Hoyas, too.

Leading Sidwell Friends to victory were Acaden Lewis and Jalyn Collingwood. Lewis went 7 for 13 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds, while Collingwood dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lewis a new career-high in blocks (two).

Sidwell Friends pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Georgetown Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

Sidwell Friends will head out on the road to square off against Georgetown Day at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Georgetown Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Varsity Opponent at 2:15 p.m.
