How Texas softball defensive stats leaders rank nationally

Willis' Casey Dixon ranks nationally in wins and strikeouts, while Reicher Catholic's Maddy Gonzalez tied for lead with 11 no-hitters.

The Texas softball season wrapped up on June 3 with state championship teams being crowned. Individually, some players logged staggering numbers this season. MaxPreps looks at the defensive leaders in Texas to see how they compare to other players in the nation.

Wins
Casey Dixon, Sr., Willis, No. 4
Dixon has a 34-7 record this season with a 1.07 earned run average. She has 13 shutouts and has 26 complete games in her 26 starts.

Lexi Hutchins, So., Joaquin, No. 7
Hutchins has racked up a 32-7 record on the year. She also has an ERA of 1.07 and an impressive 237 strikeouts.

Hannah Mayo, Sr., Carroll (Corpus Christi), No. 10
Mayo sported a 31-5 mark this season to go with a 0.96 ERA. She started 30 games and finished up with 18 shutouts.



Mackenzie Downs, So., Bonham, No. 20
Downs came through with a 28-10 record. She logged 236.2 innings of work in the circle to go with her 310 strikeouts.

Christine Billmeier, So., Pilot Point, No. 28
Billmeier had a phenomenal run this year, earning a 26-2 record. She started all but one of her 31 appearances with 27 complete games.

Strikeouts
Casey Dixon, Sr., Willis, No. 3
In 35 of 43 games this year, Dixon had eight or more strikeouts. She had eight games with 14 or more strikeouts. She had four times has many strikeouts (415) as hits allowed (103).

Hannah Mayo, Sr., Carroll (Corpus Christi), No. 8
Mayo has 18 games with multiple strikeouts and 371 total for the season. She had a stretch of nine games where she struck out 14 or more hitters in five games.

Mya Stevenson, Jr., Poteet (Mesquite), No. 19
Stevenson has worked 169.1 innings but has 328 Ks, striking out nearly two hitters per inning. Teams hit just .151 against her.

Mackenzie Downs, So., Bonham, No. 25
Downs has 310 strikeouts in 236 2/3 innings. In 11 games this season, Downs has fanned 10 or more hitters.



Madalyn Alexander, Jr., Pine Tree (Longview), No. 28
Alexander has taken down 304 hitters and to start the season she averaged 13.89 strikeouts per game.

No-hitters
Maddy Gonzales, So., Reicher Catholic (Waco), No. 1
Gonzalez is tied for the lead in the nation with 11 no-hitters. She's only allowed 65 hits in 144 1/3 innings of work.

Hannah Mayo, Sr., Carroll (Corpus Christi), No. 3
Mayo has registered nine no-hitters this season. She had back-to-back no-hitters in early May. May is averaging 8.67 strikeouts during her no-hitter games.

Shelbi Sunseri, Sr., Santa Fe, No. 12
Sunseri has seven no-hitters, and impressively tossed four no-no's during a five-game stretch in March.

Lexi Hutchins, So., Joaquin, No. 16
Along with her great win-loss record, Hutchins has tossed six no-hitters this season. She has given up just 117 hits in 223 innings.

Sarah Azlin, Jr., Brazosport Christian (Lake Jackson), No. 16
Azlin also has six no-hitters this season and has given up three hits or less in all but one game this season.
