Preview: Fannindel Falcons vs. Campbell Indians
The Fannindel Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Campbell Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fannindel is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
The matchup between Fannindel and Dodd City on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Fannindel was beaten by Dodd City 70-38. While losing is never fun, Fannindel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1667th, while Dodd City is ranked 682nd).
Despite the loss, Fannindel saw an underclassman step up: Kalob Runnels scored 16 points. That was a full 42.1% of Fannindel's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lucas Moreland, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Campbell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 60-23 loss at the hands of Ector. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Campbell has suffered since December 5, 2023.
Fannindel's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Campbell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Fannindel couldn't quite finish off Campbell in their previous meeting on January 2nd and fell 45-43. Can Fannindel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
