Softball Recap: Bluefield Takes a Loss

Mount View hit Bluefield with a eight-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Beavers came up short against the Golden Knights, falling 14-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-8 back in March.

Olivia English made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Bluefield's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Mount View, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluefield will host Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Beavers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mount View, they will square off against River View at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something the Golden Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
