Volleyball Recap: Mary Persons Comes Up Short

Mary Persons lost against Crisp County back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-16 in the first set.

Mary Persons started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-17, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Mary Persons saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kourtney Harrington had 14 digs and three aces. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Harrington. Addison Lynch also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mary Persons' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Crisp County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Mary Persons will face off against Peach County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Crisp County and Brooks County will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
