Baseball Game Preview: Holderness Bulls vs. Vermont Academy Wildcats

Holderness is 0-3 against Vermont Academy since April of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. The Bulls will venture away from home to square off against the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m.

Holderness is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Proctor Academy, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Vermont Academy entered their tilt with Proctor Academy on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Hornets. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Logan Sinacola made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Sinacola was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Sinacola, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Sinacola is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Milo Tucker was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Vermont Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in three consecutive games.

Holderness' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vermont Academy, their record is now 6-1.

Holderness came up short against Vermont Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Bulls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
