League recap: Pueblo County leads league with four wins since last week

4A South Central league recap: 4/3/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Pueblo County, which finished with four wins overall, good for best in the league. The Hornets beat Kennedy 10-0, Sand Creek 17-1 and Mesa Ridge 12-4.

Petey Martinez was the best pitcher in 4A South Central this week, leading Pueblo East. Over the past week, he had one win and nine Ks.

The Eagles' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing six hits and one walk to lead the league in both categories.

There were seven hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Dylan Gavin, who collected three hits in four at bats for a .750 average.

Pueblo Central's Brenden Jiminez struck out 11 Raton hitters en route to a 4-1 victory on March 27. He gave up four hits and one run over seven innings of work.



Josh Martinez drove in four runners on Tuesday in the Wildcats' 14-0 victory over Trinidad. He went 1-for-2 and scored zero runs.
