Softball Game Preview: Beekmantown Eagles vs. Chazy Eagles

Beekmantown will face off against Chazy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Beekmantown's offense. They fell 3-0 to Ticonderoga on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled against the Sentinels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Lillian Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Chazy sidestepped Johnsburg Central for a 7-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.

Kennedy Columbus made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Columbus was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Courtney Collins was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Wynter Jarus was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Chazy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Beekmantown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beekmantown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chazy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Beekmantown beat Chazy 9-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will Beekmantown repeat their success, or does Chazy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
