Football Game Preview: North Saxons vs. Santa Monica Vikings

For the first time this season, North will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Santa Monica Vikings will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North's defense has only allowed 14.4 points per game this season, so Santa Monica's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Two weeks ago, North needed a bit of extra time to put away Carson. They came out on top against the Colts by a score of 42-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saxons.

North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Edwards, who threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 70 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. The Saxons' leading receiver King Shelton was Edwards' top target yet again, picking up 92 receiving yards and two scores, while also punching in one rushing score.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Santa Monica over Gardena in every quarter on their way to victory two weeks ago. The Vikings blew past the Panthers 35-14. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

North's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Santa Monica, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

North was able to grind out a solid victory over Santa Monica in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saxons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
