Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Elkins Falls Despite Big Games from Chase Gray and Jacari Irvin

Fort Bend Elkins was the 66-60 winner over Cypress Falls when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Bend Elkins Knights fell just short of the Cypress Falls Eagles by a score of 45-42 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Eagles are ranked 140th).

Fort Bend Elkins' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacari Irvin, who posted 15 points and five rebounds, and Chase Gray, who had seven points. Those 15 points gave Irvin a new career-high.

Fort Bend Elkins dropped their record down to 8-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cypress Falls, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

Fort Bend Elkins will head out on the road to square off against Fort Bend Dulles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cypress Falls, they will be playing at home against Stratford at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cypress Falls is facing Stratford at the right time seeing as Stratford is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
