Basketball Game Preview: Muskegon Heights Tigers vs. Nouvel Catholic Central Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Muskegon Heights didn't have too much trouble with Wellspring Prep as they won 58-40.

Meanwhile, Nouvel Catholic Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 67-36 victory over the Cavaliers. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 592nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nouvel Catholic Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Muskegon Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Muskegon Heights didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Nouvel Catholic Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2016, but they still walked away with a 63-57 win.
