1. Central Catholic (Portland)2013 finish: 14-0, state champion
Head coach: Steve Pyne
Team preview"The Rams are the defending Class 6A state champions and figure to be a
top contender again this season. Running back
Cameron Scarlett is the
top player to watch, and may very well be the most talented all-around
player in the state. Scarlett, a senior, will be deciding soon between
Notre Dame, Stanford, Oregon, UCLA and Washington next season."

2. Jesuit (Portland)2013 finish: 11-3
Head coach: Ken Potter
Team preview"Jesuit was the Class 6A runner-up last season, and will reload again in 2014.
Running back
Chase Morrison will be a contender for offensive player of
the year in 6A, as he lines up behind one of the top offensive lines in
the state. The Crusaders will be tested early as they open their season
against Central Catholic on Sept. 5, which figures to be one of the top
games to watch this season."

Team preview"The long-time kings of Class 5A move up to the 6A level for the first
time this season. The Bowmen were upset by West Albany, 21-20, in the 5A
state championship game last season, but there's little doubt Sherwood
belongs at the 6A level with their prolific Wing T offense that has lit
up scoreboards for years. Their offense figures to be able to score at
the 6A level, the ultimate question will be whether or not they can stop
other bigger and faster offenses in 6A."

4. Silverton2013 finish: 11-1
Head coach: John Mannion
Team preview "With Sherwood exiting Class 5A, Silverton figures to be the team to
beat. The Foxes have compiled a 21-3 record in the last three seasons, with
all three losses coming to Sherwood and West Albany, both of whom have
been moved up to the 6A level now. Quarterback
Cole Chandler is one of
the top quarterbacks in the state and could have Silverton poised for a
5A championship run."

Head coach: Mike Mitchell
Team preview"The Black Tornado rose from relative obscurity in 2013 to field one of
the top teams in the state. This dark horse program went from 2-8 and seventh place in the 6A Southwest Conference in 2012 to 10-1 and first place
in the conference in 2013. North Medford reached the state semifinals last
season with mostly juniors, and will have a senior-heavy squad this
season to rely on. Watch for dual threat quarterback
Troy Fowler to help
prove that North Medford's breakout season last year was no fluke."
