Softball Recap: Union Area Scotties vs. Bishop Canevin Crusaders
Union Area was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bishop Canevin on Friday. The Scotties never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. The Scotties haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Korynne Shannon made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Olivia Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maggie Joseph, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Union Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Union Area's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Bishop Canevin, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Area will welcome Sharon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Scotties 3, the Tigers 0.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bishop Canevin, they will challenge Sewickley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sewickley Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Bishop Canevin surely won't give up without a fight.
