Basketball Game Preview: Niwot Cougars vs. Fairview Knights

The Niwot Cougars will challenge the Fairview Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Niwot is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Longmont on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Niwot lost 47-24 to Longmont. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Fairview strolled past Wheat Ridge with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 67-53. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Farmers are ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairview has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Niwot, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Niwot came up short against Fairview in their previous meeting back in December of 2015, falling 55-42. Can Niwot avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
