Baseball Recap: Mansfield Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Mansfield had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 12-10 to make it four. They never let the Canton Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Jack Peabody, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Canton off the board. Peabody also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mansfield is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Kucharski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Canton, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-8-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Canton's side, Dean Madden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Furthermore, Madden didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

Coming up, Mansfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Milton at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Canton, they will head out to challenge Brookline at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
