Football Game Preview: Edwin O. Smith Panthers vs. Wethersfield Eagles

After each having a week off, the Edwin O. Smith Panthers and the Wethersfield Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wethersfield took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Edwin O. Smith, who comes in off a win.

Edwin O. Smith will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points back in September, then bounced right back against RHAM last Saturday. The Panthers really took it to the Raptors for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-12 victory. The Panthers pushed the score to 35-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raptors had little chance of recovering from.

Sean Podosek continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (154.9). Christian Gaskins was in the mix as well, providing Edwin O. Smith with two scores.

Meanwhile, Wethersfield played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 28-7 to Berlin. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win got Edwin O. Smith back to even at 2-2. As for Wethersfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Edwin O. Smith was taken down by Wethersfield 42-0 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Panthers, Camden Righi (who threw for 158 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 45 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
