Softball Recap: Henry Clay Blue Devils vs. Lafayette Generals

Henry Clay extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Lafayette Generals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Generals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in March.

As for Lafayette, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-5 record. Considering they have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Lafayette's part, Abby Winkler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit.

At the plate, Kierstyn Kelley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Combs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Henry Clay will square off against Tates Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lafayette, they will face off against Madison Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
