Recap: St. Mary's Rams vs. Lodi Flames
The St. Mary's Rams's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 63-62 win over Lodi. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Lodi is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Mary's had a senior duo take command as Cayden Ward dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds and Daniel Huerta scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Huerta is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ivan Huerta, who scored seven points.
St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Lodi, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Lodi, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Tokay at 7:00 p.m. Lodi is facing Tokay at the right time seeing as Tokay is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
