Softball Game Preview: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. West Craven Eagles

Eastern Wayne is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to square off against the West Craven Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Eastern Wayne is leaving town to face West Craven after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Warriors came up short against Rosewood on Thursday, falling 6-0. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Mallory Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks.

Meanwhile, West Craven lost 12-2 to Havelock on Thursday.

West Craven saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayleigh Simpson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
