Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Afton Knights, sneaking past 53-50. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-43 back in December of 2024.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Pain led the charge by putting up 20 points and eight rebounds. Pain is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Behnke, who posted six points and five steals.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Afton, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-37 loss against Worcester on the 8th. Afton has also already played their next game (against Sidney), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
