Basketball Recap: Ray Takes a Loss

Ray lost against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ray Texans had to suffer through a 104-56 loss at the hands of the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Eagles are ranked 30th).

Billy White iii continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 18 boards. Those 18 rebounds gave White iii a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Mondragon, who went 7 for 14 en route to 18 points.

Ray's loss dropped their record down to 23-11. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, the win keeps them at an undefeated 34-0.

Coming up, Ray will venture away from home to challenge Miller at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ray knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Miller likes a good challenge. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, they will welcome Alice at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Alice has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
