Baseball Recap: Academy of Richmond County Wins Going Away Against Westside

Academy of Richmond County hadn't done well against Westside recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Academy of Richmond County Musketeers put the hurt on the Westside Patriots with a sharp 12-2 victory. This was a revenge game for the Musketeers: when they faced off against the Patriots last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-8 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Henry Oliver, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Skedsvold, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The win got Academy of Richmond County back to even at 1-1. As for Westside, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Academy of Richmond County will square off against West Laurens at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will face off against Georgia School for Innovation & Classics at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
