Softball Recap: Bay Port Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bay Port extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 10-15. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Freedom Irish 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since May 2nd.

The team relied heavily on Morgan VandenBranden, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Elly Rau was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Bay Port hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.

As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs.

On Freedom's side, Breanna Dallmann made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Bay Port didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 victory against Sheboygan North on the 19th. As for Freedom, they have also already played their next contest, a 4-0 defeat against Seymour on the 26th.
