Recap: Barstow Aztecs vs. Granite Hills Cougars
It was a good run, but The Barstow Aztecs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 52-35 bruising from Granite Hills. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Barstow still got an impressive performance from Dwayne Williams, who rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Kameron Smith was his usual excellent self, rushing for 299 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
Granite Hills' defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Barstow's QB won't forget Christian Long anytime soon given Long sacked him four times.
Barstow's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Granite Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barstow will take on St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Granite Hills, they will look to defend their home field on November 3rd against Salesian at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Salesian is ranked 220th, while Granite Hills is ranked 206th).
