Softball Recap: Notre Dame (SO) Beats Oakdale for Their Fourth Straight Win

Notre Dame (SO) had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Oakdale Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Alisha Covarrubias made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Aliyah Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keira Luderer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Notre Dame (SO) was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Notre Dame (SO)'s victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Oakdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Notre Dame (SO) will head out to take on Sierra Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakdale, they will square off against Manteca at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
