Basketball Recap: West Wilkes Takes a Loss

West Wilkes lost against East Surry back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Wilkes Blackhawks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the East Surry Cardinals. The Blackhawks' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

West Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for East Surry, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

West Wilkes will challenge Elkin at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Surry, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the East Surry Cardinals duke it out with the West Stokes Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. East Surry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully West Stokes likes a good challenge.
