Cleveland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 25 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 46-21 margin over Riverside-Durham. Given Cleveland's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Riverside-Durham is ranked 467th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cleveland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Cannon led the charge by scoring 11 points along with 4 steals. The match was Cannon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jim'Mara Banks, who scored 3 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Wakefield came up short against Northern Guilford on Saturday and fell 57-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wakefield in their matchups with Northern Guilford: they've now lost three in a row.
Cleveland's victory lifted them to 4-1 while Riverside-Durham's loss dropped them down to 0-5.
