Basketball Game Preview: Sexton Big Reds vs. Waverly Warriors

Sexton is 0-4 against Waverly since March of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Sexton Big Reds just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Waverly Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Sexton sitting on three straight victories and Waverly on five.

On Friday, Sexton was able to grind out a solid win over Portland, taking the game 54-47.

Meanwhile, Waverly blew past DeWitt, posting a 74-40 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Panthers are ranked 251st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sexton pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Waverly, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Sexton came up short against Waverly when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 88-82. Can Sexton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
