            Softball Recap: Wheeling Wildcats vs. Waukegan Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            The third road  match was the charm for Wheeling, as they earned their first away  victory of the season. They put the hurt on the Waukegan Bulldogs with a sharp  23-3 win on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played  back in April of 2024.
 Sierra Kuhlman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Kuhlman was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring four  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Wheeling got a  massive  performance out of  Alaina Costello, who  scored five  runs while going 4-for-5.  Katie Moser was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double.
 Wheeling  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waukegan only posted  an  OBP of  .400.

Wheeling's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Waukegan,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
 Coming up, Wheeling will head out to  challenge Maine East  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Waukegan, they will welcome Highland Park  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday.
