Football Recap: Xavier Prep Starts Season with Victory Against Linfield Christian + How To Watch

Xavier Prep had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Linfield Christian Lions 46-14 on Friday. The Saints not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 5, 2024 (when they won 47-0).

Xavier Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kingston Pellum out in front who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 60 yards and one TD. Those 87 rushing yards gave Pellum a new career-high. Xavier Prep's leading receiver Anthony Creek-Pellum was Pellum's top target yet again, picking up 24 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 46 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Xavier Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Xavier Prep's defense and their seven sacks. Jovan Taylor led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself.

Although Linfield Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Madden Mayer and Jason Brenier.

Looking ahead, Xavier Prep will head out on the road to challenge Desert Hot Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Linfield Christian, they will host Jackson Hole at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
