Baseball Recap: Steele Victorious

Steele took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Clemens, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Buffaloes on Thursday. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Buffaloes on their field since April 14, 2023.

Ioshua Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Steele let Ryder Pearson and Maddox Cano run wild. Pearson went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Cano went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cano has become a key player for Steele: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13-2 otherwise.

Steele's record now sits at 12-14-2. As for Clemens, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-6-1.

As of now, neither Steele nor the Buffaloes have any future games scheduled.
