Softball Game Preview: New Hope-Solebury Lions vs. William Tennent Panthers

The New Hope-Solebury Lions will venture away from home to face off against the William Tennent Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

New Hope-Solebury's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cheltenham with a sharp 15-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mabel Klossner made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Sim, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Maya Patel was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

New Hope-Solebury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, William Tennent had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Lions. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

New Hope-Solebury's record now sits at 12-6. As for William Tennent, their record is now 7-2.

Everything went New Hope-Solebury's way against William Tennent in their previous meeting back in April, as New Hope-Solebury made off with an 18-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
