Baseball Recap: Bellingham Comes Up Short

Bellingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ashland Clockers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blackhawks of the 8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Payton Young was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

Bellingham's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Ashland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Bellingham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-3 defeat against Hopkinton on the 7th. As for Ashland, they have also already played their next game, a 12-0 win against Norton on the 5th.
