Softball Recap: Belen Wins Going Away Against Los Alamos

Belen extended their postseason success on Thursday against Los Alamos. They put the hurt on the Hilltoppers with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 11 games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lorissa Scott made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Belen got a massive performance out of Araceli Franco, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Franco a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shyla Rocha, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Belen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are 11-3 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Belen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Los Alamos, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7-1.

Coming up, Belen will take on Aztec at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. Los Alamos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
