Baseball Game Preview: East Central Trojans vs. Columbus North Bull Dogs

East Central is 2-8 against Columbus North since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Trojans will welcome the Bull Dogs at 6:00 p.m. East Central will be strutting in after a win while Columbus North will be coming in after a defeat.

East Central barely beat Franklin County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 11-3 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Cole Reynolds made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, East Central got a massive performance out of Ryan Ott, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Ott a new career-high. Noah Long was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

East Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin County only posted an OBP of .276.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Columbus North and Roncalli, and Roncalli kept the tradition alive. The Bull Dogs fell 10-5 to the Royals on Monday.

Jack Whaley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Macario Mendez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Columbus North's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for East Central, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

East Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Columbus North when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bull Dogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
