Baseball Game Preview: Baldwin Indians vs. Hilliard Red Flashes

Baldwin is 9-1 against Hilliard since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Red Flashes at 6:30 p.m. Hilliard took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Baldwin, who comes in off a win.

If Baldwin beats Hilliard with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Indians walked away with a 13-8 win over Baker County on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Chase Staley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Baldwin is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Staley was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Baldwin got a big performance out of Jesse Macik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Macik has posted since back in April of 2024. Mac Johnson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Baldwin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Hilliard didn't have quite enough to beat Yulee on Thursday and fell 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Flashes in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost eight in a row.

Hilliard's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Baldwin, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Baldwin took their victory against Hilliard in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5 score. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Flashes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
