The Bountiful RedHawks will face off against the Woods Cross Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Bountiful and Viewmont have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The RedHawks took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The RedHawks haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Cash Stump was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Stump was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Stump wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyson Burningham, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Woods Cross put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Northridge. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Razee was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stetson Chritchley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Woods Cross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Woods Cross is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Bountiful, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bountiful has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Woods Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bountiful came up short against Woods Cross in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the RedHawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
