Basketball Recap: Middle Creek Takes a Loss

Middle Creek lost against Green Level back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Middle Creek Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Green Level Gators. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Gators are ranked 15th).

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yasir Hall, who posted 19 points and six rebounds. The match was Hall's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was George Daniels, who had 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Green Level's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Israel Eatman, who put up 17 points. Isaac Ericksen was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Middle Creek's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Green Level, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middle Creek will square off against Green Hope at 8:00 p.m. on January 24th. Green Hope is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for Green Level, they will venture away from home to challenge Apex at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Green Level is facing Apex at the right time seeing as Apex is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
