Softball Game Preview: Lakeland Thunderbirds vs. Antigo Red Robins

The Lakeland Thunderbirds will face off against the Antigo Red Robins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeland is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Lakeland will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Tomahawk, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Thunderbirds were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Hatchets on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Antigo's offense. They came up short against Mosinee on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Red Robins have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Antigo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Beck, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Tristin Arlen also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lakeland pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Antigo, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Lakeland came out on top in a nail-biter against Antigo in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Thunderbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Robins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
