Basketball Game Preview: Vandalia Vandals vs. Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles

The Vandalia Vandals will head out on the road to take on the Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vandalia will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Mattoon, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Vandalia snuck past Mattoon with a 42-36 victory on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vandals.

Meanwhile, Brownstown/St. Elmo was able to grind out a solid win over North Clay/Clay City on Monday, taking the game 49-39.

Vandalia's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-9. As for Brownstown/St. Elmo, they now have a winning record of 1-0.

Everything went Vandalia's way against Brownstown/St. Elmo when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as Vandalia made off with a 51-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vandalia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
