Basketball Recap: River City Believers Academy Takes a Loss

River City Believers Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Hill Country Christian Rams, falling 71-41. The Soldiers lost against the Rams in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 56-51 score last time.

Several Soldiers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lukas Cox, who posted ten points in addition to eight steals and five rebounds. Cox has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Averill, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points.

Even though they lost, River City Believers Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

River City Believers Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hill Country Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3.

River City Believers Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-30 defeat against First Baptist Academy on the 20th. As for Hill Country Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Austin Waldorf at 1:30 p.m. on December 31st.
