The Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers will take on the Meade County Green Waves at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Breckinridge County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Friday, Breckinridge County beat Hancock County 5-1.
Connor Willis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Breckinridge County got a big performance out of Adam Howell, who earned two runs and three stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Leland Board, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meade County came out on top against North Hardin on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Green Waves took their contest against the Trojans 6-3. The win continues a trend for the Green Waves in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.
Josiah Pierce made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Aidan Bratcher was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Hail, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meade County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meade County's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Breckinridge County, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Breckinridge County might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Meade County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Fighting Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
