Basketball Recap: Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis entered their contest against Providence Classical Christian Academy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis Crusaders fell to the Providence Classical Christian Academy Panthers 53-49. The Crusaders lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-27 score last time.

Providence Classical Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Ben Mattull went 13 for 21 on his way to 31 points and five boards and Lance Zrodlowski went 8 of 17 en route to 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Mattull has scored at least a third of Providence Classical Christian Academy's points.

Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis' loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6. As for Providence Classical Christian Academy, their record is now 11-7.

Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis will face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence Classical Christian Academy, they will take on Eagle Ridge Christian in a tournament on Tuesday. Eagle Ridge Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Providence Classical Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
