Softball Recap: Chester Finds Home Field Redemption Against Carlyle

There's no place like home for Chester, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 two weeks ago.

Lexie Mott made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Mott was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elaina Lutman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Marlie Caby, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Chester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlyle only posted a batting average of .154.

Chester moved to 18-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Carlyle, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Chester wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-1 loss against Murphysboro on the 17th. As for Carlyle, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-3 defeat against Salem on the 17th.
