Football Game Preview: Veribest Falcons vs. Water Valley Wildcats

Veribest is 1-7 against Water Valley since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Veribest is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 66-16 victory over Paint Rock. The Falcons not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 11, 2024 (when they won 57-0).

Meanwhile, Water Valley faced Rankin in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Red Devils, posting a 68-20 win. The victory was just business as usual for the Wildcats, who after six games remain undefeated this season.

Water Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Veribest, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Veribest was taken down by Water Valley 53-22 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wildcats' Landon Lacy, who threw for 186 yards and six TDs while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushed for 41 yards.
