Softball Recap: North Hollywood Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

North Hollywood had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Sylmar Spartans by a score of 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Spartans back in April, they had to take a 10-9 loss.

Ellison Hinnen made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hinnen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaiya Mendoza, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ayla Soto was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double.

North Hollywood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

North Hollywood pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Sylmar, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.

As of now, neither North Hollywood nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
