Softball Game Preview: Western Guilford Hornets vs. Parkland Mustangs

The Western Guilford Hornets will face off against the Parkland Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western Guilford has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with eight straight losses, while Parkland will come in with five straight victories.

Western Guilford came up short against Ragsdale on Tuesday, falling 16-1.

Western Guilford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marlee Hull, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Hull a new career-high. Michaela Vanleuvan also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

While Parkland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Ben L. Smith with a sharp 19-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Mustangs have won six games by more than 14 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Western Guilford's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Parkland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
