Basketball Game Preview: Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs vs. Covington Chargers

The Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs will head out to square off against the Covington Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Raleigh-Egypt has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 9.

Last Tuesday, Raleigh-Egypt came up short against Millington Central and fell 64-55. While losing is never fun, the Pharaohs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Trojans are ranked 136th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Covington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They slipped by Brighton 53-52 on Tuesday. While the Chargers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Covington pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Raleigh-Egypt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Raleigh-Egypt strolled past Covington in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 58-41. Will Raleigh-Egypt repeat their success, or does Covington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
