Basketball Recap: Cyprus' Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Cyprus was the 75-64 winner over Mountain Ridge when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates took a 68-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sentinels on Friday. The loss was the Pirates' first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Cyprus lost, don't look at Koli Fosita. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-13 to rack up 29 points and seven boards. Fosita's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Alen Hadzialijagic, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Mountain Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Dow out in front who posted 14 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Hatton, who had seven points along with ten assists and seven rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cyprus fell to 3-1. As for Mountain Ridge, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Cyprus will take on Skyline in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge has already played their next game (against Hillcrest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
